clrmame option to "clear" clones
« on: 11 October 2019, 00:36 »

Hola Roman,

Is it possible to have clrmame to remove clones? I'm thinking of just removing all clones from my roms folders, as I'm ok with just the originals... Is there any option to do so? If not, maybe you could add it to your "think about" list? ;)

thanks again!

First of all: Be aware that there are sets where only the clone does work flawlessly but not the parent.

You can disable clones from the set list by doing this:
Scanner->SetInformation->Select Sets: Enter %c=?*
Hit the "invert" button and check the "Initial Invert" checkbox
Then Scanner->Advanced -> check the checkbox "Mark disabled sets as unneeded"

or you simply take a datfile which only lists the sets you need.

If you're familar with XSLT you might be able to quickly write a stylesheet which transforms MAME's -listinfo output in whatever you need. If not, then you either look around if some page provides a parent only dat, or you use the select sets method descibed in my first reply.
