removing directory information from zipfile
« on: 22 March 2018, 05:37 »

just an idea:

Quote
Set:   2006-08-31 - [OTHER] Rapala_Trophies_USA_UMDRiP_PSP-USELESS
Name:   2006-08-31 - [OTHER] Rapala_Trophies_USA_UMDRiP_PSP-USELESS
File:   C:\...\2006-08-31 - [OTHER] Rapala_Trophies_USA_UMDRiP_PSP-USELESS\dh\

Do you want to remove the file?

removing this directory info is considered "remove file".
i would like to press "yes to all" and be sure CM will remove only directory data, and no other file (even wrong files) will be automatically wiped...

You can be sure. zipfile directory information entries are not needed for a valid zipfile since each file holds the full path.

Sorry for my bad English.
If a zipfile has directory info and I say "yes to all" to "remove file", then CM will delete directory info (which is OK) AND useless files (which may be not OK because I want to confirm each single file delete).
To avoid this, CM "should" consider "remove directory information" as a specific case to be managed separately from "remove file" case.
My idea is to say "yes to all" to "remove directory information", and continue with "yes" or "no" to "remove file" requests.

Well, that's because an unneeded folder entry is the same type of 'issue' as an unknown file.......there is actually not really a difference....same for let's say uncompressed sets where you got a dummy file or a dummy folder...both will be marked as unneeded.

I doubt that I will change this behaviour....normally unneeded folder zipstructes are pretty rare these days.....guess I've seen the last one ages ago ;-)

sorry for the bump but I still hope you keep this in a sort of low-queue plan :)
even latest versions of 7z include that "information" that CM wants to delete, with same behaviour between directory info and wrong files.
first behaviour does some fix to the zipfile, the other behaviour does some fix on the files inside.
