Is it possible to use network mounts?
« on: 02 July 2024, 21:13 »

Just tried it in Windows 11 but no network mounts are shown (nor are any shortcuts to one).

hmm..haven't tested it yet, but surely you can simply enter filepaths in UNC syntax like

\\fileserver2\MAME\roms

Yep, working now, you just have to put the paths in manually.
Scanning is slow this way, but that's to be expected.

Thanks Roman.

Regarding speed: well...what do expect when scanning over the network :-)

Update: hmm...it shows mapped network drives for me in the left part of the folder and file dialogs and they are selectable

Nope, still no show for me.

BUT! In the new scanner my NAS shows up fine in dialog boxes and I just used it for the first time. It is way faster (at least factor 5) than "old" ClrMAME but this mabye due to the virtualisation that I'm using that has been a bit wonky recently.

I also like the new uncluttered interface and don't miss the profiler as I'm using only plain MAME.

oh I was only talking about the new scanner :-) Good to hear they show up fine there.
Yes it's faster than old cmpro due to various reasons. Threading, completely different approach to handle merge modes, etc etc...

Actually I don't want to spend time on old cmpro anymore unless something breaks....

Well, seeing that with your last 2 fixes scanner produces now the same results as ClrMAME I see no need to continue working on ClrMAME.

Good work, thanks!
