ClrMamePro 3.138a - Bug or not bug?
« on: 08 June 2011, 18:21 »

Hi all...

Don't know if this was present in previous versions but I'm wondering why, when using the scanner with the "Scan..." button, ClrMamePro checks all options in the "You want to scan" section. Even if I uncheck one or more before clicking the button.
It doesn't seem to happen if I use the "New Scan..." button. IE : It memorize the unchecked options.

While I am here, I also wonder about the difference between "Sets" and "ROMs" options. I think I got the same results with both checked or one or other.

Thank you if you could shed some light for me  ;D

No bug.

"SCAN" only scans the sets which had problems in a previous "NEW SCAN", so of course the old check settings are restored (exception: fix options).
"NEW SCAN" always scans all sets and then remembers the used settings for future scans.

So with an update for your fav datfile, you first do a NEW SCAN, and from then onwards you only need 'SCAN's.

Now to the sets/roms difference...

Set = a "game", a collection of roms. Look at the datfile, you see the single sets...
E.g. "Pacman" which got let's say 10 roms (1.bin, 2.bin, ....just example names)

So if you check for sets + name, you check if the pacman folder (or pacman.zip/.7z/.rar) is correctly named.
If you check for roms + name, you check if the files inside the pacman set  (1.bin, 2.bin,....) are correctly named.

Simply keep all check options enabled....

Thanks Roman for your reply.

Don't know if my english is too poor or if my headache is involved, but I will sleep on it  ;)

Thanks a lot anyway for trying to explain how that works.

Keep on that good work even if you lack time, money and requests  :D

Lot of active websites related to MAME few time ago have give in. Hope this will not be your aim  ::)

Hi Roman,

Ok, I think I've all understand now after a good night and a less good working day  ;)

I was aware of the difference between "Scan" and "New Scan" and it's finally logical that the options are kept.

The mistake I made about "Sets" and "Roms" was that, in my little mind, "Sets" were meaning "Complete sets missing" for example and "Roms" only partial sets missing. I didn't see the relation about the Check/Fix options.

Thanks a lot again for your explanation (and time).
