Hey!
I just discover today that there are dedicated DATs for CHDs-only (progettoSNAPS).
Now... I have a lots of scattered CHDs in various folders in my external HDDs.
I don't want to do manual work by checking CHDs and copy/paste in my main roms folders.

I tried using that CHD-DAT, but Rebuilder and also Scanner do nothing.
Rebuilder only shows me the list of vaild CHDs.
I'm using tha DAT ad a "roms" DAT, so my ROMPath is CHD destination and ADD-Paths have all my folders with various CHDs.

Can you please help me??

Thanks, bye!!  8)

The rebuilder rebuilds roms, not chds.

The scanner scans sets which are a collection of roms and/or chds and/or samples. So scanning should work fine as long as you follow the general storing method:
rompath\setname\file 1...file n for decompressed sets
rompath\setname.zip (.rar/.7z) for compressed sets
Please note, a chd is usually stored in a subfolder named after the setname, i.e. it follows the decompressed method.

As soon as you setup your scanner to correctly work with your chd datfile, you can simply put unknown chds in a rompath root and cmpro will either move them to the correct subpath (it creates fit for you) when it matches or - if it does not match any known chd - it lists it as unneeded (and moves it to backup if the fix option is on)

Yup! I know... I red in this forum... I know you should work with Scanner.
But I'd like to work with CHDs like as I do with roms (that's why I'm asking about dedicated DAT).
Scanner somethimes doesn't want to create folders, so I need to do that by hand.
Also Scanner moves the CHDs... In my particular environment I need *.chd to be copied.

I was hoping to "fake" cmamep to work with CHDs as like ROMs: I mean Rebuilder works with files and Scanner works with SETs. So... I'd like to work with files!  8) ;) ;)

If there's a datfile out there which lists chds as roms (so with the file hash and not the compressed data hash information) then you'd be able to rebuild them.
Again, for the normal setup, you can copy your files first into a rompath root and cmpro's scanner will move them to the correct subpath (or to backup). Your original messy folders aren't touched in this case.

Re: Rebuilding CHD with progettoSNAPS' DATs
« Reply #5 on: 20 May 2020, 20:50 »

That's a normal datfile where a chd is listed as a dat...
so you won't be able to rebuild them and you need to use the scanner method if you need somehow sort out bad ones.

For the first listed one, 2spicy, your setup would look like:
e:\myroms\mychds\lindbios\mda-c0004a_revb_lindyellow_v2.4.20_mvl31a_boot_2.01.chd
e:\myroms\mychds\2spicy\dvp-0027a.chd
where "e:\myroms\mychds" is the rompath and 2spicy and lindbios are setnames.
If you now put a chd with the name "unknown.chd" and internal sha1 0b874178c8dd3cfc451deb53dc7936dc4ad5a04f into the rompath root "e:\myroms\mychds", cmpro will detect it as wrong placed, creates a subfolder "99bottles" for it, moves it there and uses the correct filename 99bottles.chd in there..
