- misc: for softwarelist combined mode scanning a software list set is now strictly restricted to the assigned rompath. Should resolve all possible false-positive detection of unneeded stuff

Hi Roman... today I installed this updated exe. Also updated mame to latest 221. I ran a full scan with all fixes after that, and found one error which is very strange.
In the warnings window, there is a meesage saying:
can't open 7z file L:\....\roms\ibm5150\brdtalea.7z

A while ago I switched to 7z so all new roms are created in 7z (using Rebuilder). Anyway, in that folder, there is no such file. This is what I have:

$ ls -l brdtale*
-rwx---rwx+ 1 llagos None 503203 Nov  7  2019 brdtale.7z
-rwx---rwx+ 1 llagos None 520673 Jun 15  2019 brdtale2.zip
-rwx---rwx+ 1 llagos None 508881 Jun 15  2019 brdtale2_35.zip
-rwx---rwx+ 1 llagos None 846116 Jun 15  2019 brdtale3.zip
-rwx---rwx+ 1 llagos None 514684 Jun 15  2019 brdtale35.zip
-rwx---rwx+ 1 llagos None 218259 May 22 16:44 brdtalea.zip

So, big question, is why is cmp alerting for a file that just doesn't exist??? I also looked at cmp\backup\MAME\ and no file with that name either (not even for that SL).

I looked at scanner.log, and there is this one mention to this rom:

The Bard's Tale - Tales of the Unknown (5.25", alt) [softwarelist: ibm5150 - folder: brdtalea - parent: brdtale - size: 662kb]
missing rom: The Bard's Tale 1 - Tales of the Unknown [1987] [5.25] [2 of 2] [a2].img [size: 309512] [CRC32: 57028b32] [SHA1: 326dffb09cc63531b7ce25b1a19368ece9744804]

Maybe cmp tried to rebuild a zip to a 7z, but got confused somehow? The parent 7z does exist!

Regards,

hmm....so you're saying you got a scenario where the parent set is a 7z archive and the clone is zip one and whjile scanning you get this problem.
I try to setup this scenario and will run some tests.

update...hmm...no luck yet to repeat the behaviour. Do you have a minimum setup which can recreate the problem?
On the other hand I guess you can ignore the problem...most likely cmpro tried to look something up in the parentset and falsely used the archive type from the clone....
do you know where exactly it happens? First you say scanner, then rebuilder....

My apologies if I confused you. Warning (not error) is in the Scanner. and yes... it seems the parent is 7z and the clone zip. And my setup is to rebuild to .7z.
I'm attaching log file and both rom files. Also ini file from cmp. If you need some other file please let me know.
Thanks a bunch!

Update.! I found the .7z file under backup\MAME\_unknown\ folder... and it seems CMPRO wrote it bad:

$ 7z t brdtalea.7z

p7zip Version 15.14.1 (locale=en_US.UTF-8,Utf16=on,HugeFiles=on,64 bits,4 CPUs Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz (806E9),ASM,AES-NI)

Scanning the drive for archives:

DLL I'm using is the one from latest exe:

I was talking about the "7-Zip [64] 15.14 : Copyright (c) 1999-2015 Igor Pavlov : 2015-12-31" ;-)
But anyway...the 7z file is corrupt. So maybe that was the cause of the problem. Don't ask me why it's corrupt though ;-)

That 7z was from cygwin... the one I use with cmp is the latest 64bit windows version:

L:\sw\tmp\MAME\_unknown>d:7z t brdtalea.7z

7-Zip 19.00 (x64) : Copyright (c) 1999-2018 Igor Pavlov : 2019-02-21

Scanning the drive for archives:
1 file, 527802 bytes (516 KiB)

Testing archive: brdtalea.7z
ERROR: brdtalea.7z
brdtalea.7z
Open ERROR: Can not open the file as [7z] archive

ERRORS:
Headers Error
WARNINGS:
There are data after the end of archive

Can't open as archive: 1
Files: 0
Size:       0
Compressed: 0

L:\sw\tmp\MAME\_unknown>

So, one big question here... cmp has it own 7z_64.dll, I imagine for unpacking, but for the rebuilder, I had to use my own 7z EXE which I have to define somewhere in the options...

So, why not use use just one and your own? (I may be wrong of course)..

7z_64.dll is the one from the official 7z package. It's used for reading and decompressing 7z files. The exe files are only used for remove/rename and compress purposes (and people like to give additional parameters for ultra-slow compressions in there ;-))
Using the exe for reading/decompressing purposes would slow down the process.
