Customizing dat
« on: 22 September 2015, 21:34 »

Hello,
I have a small question / request regarding Dir2Dat: You can not change some fields of XML, such as the "<game name =" in "<machine name =" or "<rom name =" on "<snap name="?

no you can't (however I guess by now it really should output machine instead of game...will update that).
Of course you can use xslt transformations (or a simply texteditor search/replace macro) to change element names...

Update: ok...for next version I (at least) changed the xml export of dats (dir2dat or setinformation export) to write "machine" instead of "game"

Update 2: well....maybe I need to rethink this a bit....dir2dat is mainly used for non-mame scenarios....and I don't know if the world outside MAME likes the idea of using machine instead of game...

Maybe you can allow the user to choose between the term "game" or "machine", with the second as default.
Edit it xml with an editor is simple, but for me that I create dozens per month, is a job too big!  ;)

In any case, thank you !!!
