Having a problem Updating roms with Clrmame
« on: 26 February 2015, 19:57 »

I tried to see if this was discussed already but I couldn't find anything so I apologize if this is in the wrong place or has already been discussed. When updating my roms to 0.158 it says I am missing files. I have tried to download them and add, but nothing changes, What am I doing wrong?? attached is my fix.dat. I apologize again if I am in the wrong place. I am trying to complete the set, I do not have any CHD's at the moment, when using clrmame I have all chd options unchecked  Thank You in advance.

well...fastest way is most likely the rebuilder to act as an adder.
Rebuilder destination should point to your rompath, source should point to your "downloaded" files (or use drag'n drop)...the rebuilder adds anything valid to your rompaths.
In the scanner run another (new) scan...and the missing stuff should get less....

Yes, I know that part.. I updated from 151 all the way to 158... and after that I downloaded what clrmame said I was missing for 158 but after I run the rebuilder nothing is rebuilt.. I still have the same amount of missing files...

well...if nothing was rebuild (the stats show the count of rebuilt files....), nothing valid was found...

so you better check:

a) you may disabled systems...so click on system to see if everything is enabled
b) you may disabled sets ..so go to the scanner tree window, bottom left is "Set Information"...be sure all sets are enabled (e.g. click on "Select All"
c) well...be sure your rebuilder source really points to the files you want to add and the destination points to the place where they should be added to....
d) check rebuilder advanced if something unsual like "remove sourcefiles without rebuilding" is enabled...disable it..
e) turn on (advanced) rebuilder logfile creation and check the file afte rebuilding

...if nothing was rebuild it may also simply means that all the files already exist in the destination....so you might scan again and compare the scan results output against your downloaded files

Ok it now says I am missing 0 roms... but it says I am missing 154 sets?  What's up with that..  here are a few listed in Miss.txt    I was informed they are chd's that clrmame looks for some anyway even if not checked... Thanks everyone.. appreciate the help..

well...a set is a collection of roms and/or chds and/or samples....there are chd-only sets...if you don't have the chd, you don't have the set....
turning off the chd check only means that you do not check the chd files (for checksums, names etc)...the set check checks the container...

The scan results tree window gives you detailed information about what is missing...trust that output...stats or miss.txt are only secondary information.
