DAT for WHDLoad recent updates (.lha archives)
« on: 23 July 2013, 19:58 »

hello Roman,

I'm wondering if it is possible to create a dat for new collection of Amiga WHDLoad: as you can read here:http://eab.abime.net/project-eab-file-server/61028-retroplay-s-whd-uploads.html "From now on all new installs will be added as .lha archives, .zip is unpredictable and causes errors in some games."

Since some files are .zip, and others in .lha format, is it feasible to create a dat with clrmame?

thank you

I wonder why zip files cause issues or are unpredictable.....sounds like a bad excuse for not filtering corrupt ones...anyway....I doubt that I find the time to add lha support.

but of course you can create a dat for it...all you need is the hash and size and name information from the files inside the lha files :) Sounds a bit like a batch job with some text editing afterwards...

no really...I wonder how standard zip files can cause issues....

Thank you Roman, sorry for late
replay: yes of course I'll follow your suggestion

I'll convert all files in .zip and then try to make the dat.

Probably the guy of that web page uses an Amiga system to organize the WHDLoad packs, and so lha format is the natural choice.
Your doubts are also mine, if I obtain new details I'll tell you

Thanks,

....besides of this...if I remember correctly, LHA uses crc16 not crc32 as hash function.....which would mean even more work if I want to support it :)
