CrlMAMEPro not responding
« on: 31 January 2013, 01:05 »

 I followed this tutorial:

 http://www.cphsolutions.f2s.com/guides/cmprotutorial.htm

Right at the first scanning part, I couldn't click "Scan", but I was able to click
"New Scan", but when it goes to 100%, it quits responding.

more likely it shows the scanning statistics in a window which might be behind some others on your system and simply waits for your OK confirmation. Turn off showing the stats (scanner option) and rescan....

It sometimes occurs in computers that the software waits for input from the user, but window focus or location fails to make it obvious.  This happens with installers more often. The Statistics window usually displays after a scan completes, but if that window was hiding behind another, or accidentally dragged off-screen, you might not have found it to allow the program to return to the task windows.  As a troubleshooting step, disable after-scan display of the Statistics window by clearing the checkbox as displayed in the image above, then run the scan again.  If it continues to not respond after completion, something else is amiss.

Just invoked this problem in the Rebuilder today... my RAMdisk had been filled to max without realizing.  Clicking cancel prompts for stop, but neither answer works.  Had to kill the process to close the program.

I had not encountered this problem before today. I'll try the method you suggest tomorrow.  I also just updated Win XP to 'unreleased' sp3.
Just in case the update screwed something I re-installed the latest release of colormame pro.  ::)

As I said, cmpro can be very busy...e.g. when un7zipping huge archives from archives etc....or scanning thousands of decompressed files and calculating sha1 values.....normally you simply have to wait or disable options which might be some speed eaters...(usually md5/sha1 related options or scanner->advanced->deeper check for fixable file (or whatever it is called))

Not truly interested in going off-topic, but XP SP3 was released on official channels. Anything claiming otherwise is either an old nlite-built install image with hacked up SP2 or slipstreamed SP3, or mistaken.
