CMP and t7z autofix problem
« on: 21 September 2012, 05:41 »

Hi Roman, congratulations for baby :) :) :)

Migrate my mame/mess sets from zip - tz/split to 7z - t7z/merged - all it's ok, but when scanning sets if any rom need move to other set cmp move rom to backup folder and report this rom is missing later i manually rebuild from backup folder. I think when roms is zip not have that problem, cmp auto move rom to other set. Maybe i mistake don't remember.

Actually it should not matter if 7z or zip is used for moving...but I will have a look at it. Can you give me a concrete example (setname, filenames) for further investigation?

This problem first check when update sega megadrive xml from mess and scanning roms. Btw - simulate "moving roms" - manually  move roms from one set to other and scan again, cmp work perfect. Strange job :)

[edit]Now test with various sets from mess - this problem is randomly. From 10 times - 8 times cmp work , 2 times not move roms.

well....actually there is a known and intended behaviour when the file is only moved to backup....and you need to readd them from the backup folder. It depends a bit on the ordering of the scanned sets and their parent/clone relationship in the old and new version of MESS/MAME. It simply needs another scan or rebuild run to put them back.

So...unless you got more details I'd assume it's the normal behaviour...and it's not related to 7z...that effect would also happen with zip.

Found problem -> 7z version . Cmp 4.08 atm work perfect only with 7z 9.22 + uncheck "Rename" option in cmp 7z opitons. Btw - test too 7z 9.25 and 9.29, simulate again "move roms" , when drag and drop for rebuild with 7z 9.25 or 7z 9.29 cmp report: breaks archives, but archives is correct when scan with 7z.

Sorry...but I don't understand what your problem is in detail.
If there is a problem, can you give more details (filenames/setnames, what do you expect etc...)
