Question about RAR'd files

My question, I have a set of bins & cues/Iso images. I would like to update them with a dat and clrmamepro. When I use clrmamepro on mame files it's just zipped files and the contents are within the zip, easy.

Like I said before I have a set bins & cues/Iso images about 100 disc images that are RAR'ed what is RAR'ed though is a folder and within the folder is the contents.

I was wondering if clrmamepro would still work ? First of all does the program work with RAR files not just ZIP and second of all if it does, will it still work if the image/game files it's within a folder basicly the folder is RAR'ed.

I hope I don't sound confusing, sorry if I do. thanks

I asked this question on mame forum and was suggested to ask it here.

One of my questions was answered. The second not yet and someone said they don't understand what I'm asking.

Basicly for example lets say I have a disc image then I right click on my desktop and make a folder and then I put the bin/cue/iso image in the folder then I proceed to right click the folder that has the game image in it then I choose to RAR the folder. My question is, will clrmamepro work with this kindy file ? If it has to fix the image will it fix it if it's within a RAR'ed folder ?

Roman:
clrmamepro works with zip, 7z and rar archive files.

zip read/write internal
7z read internal, write external
rar read internal, write external

this means for 7z and rar you need an external packer (winrar.exe, 7z.exe per default) in your environment. Use settings->compressor->rar/7z for configuring a different one.

clrmamepro supports the standard scanning/rebuilding/merging methods:

rompath\setname\file 1 ... file n for decompressed sets
rompath\setname.zip(.rar/.7z) for compressed sets.

I'm confused. All I want to know can clrmamepro work with roms that are in a folder, then that folder is RAR'ed. I want a yes or no answer. thanks

Roman:
The answer is yes, however I don't like the style you're asking for this answer.

You don't understand the basics:

clrmamepro scans sets.
Sets contain nothing and/or roms and/or samples and/or chds.
Decompressed sets are folders.
The used datfile defines the sets and so it defines the folderstructure.
You can either store your sets compressed: rompath\setname.zip/.rar/.7z
or decompressed rompath\setname\file 1.. file n
fixing rar files will only work when you defined an external packer as described in an earlier posting.

So....you should first understand the basics, then you won't be confused.

''Decompressed sets are folders''

I didn't know that clrmamepro will work on uncompressed sets neither zipped/rar. Thats good to know. I have a set of roms that not compressed. I'll run clrmamepro then zip/rar the set afterwards. thanks
