I did not have any undefined paths, but just to make sure I removed them all and re-added them. Made no difference.

There's one thing different for me compared to MAMEBase, though: my "chips and magnifying glass" icon is animated.

Hi MAMEBase :)

Interesting, so it is definitely not due to something funky in my setup, and as I noticed that you are on 10.12, too, it seems it is somehow due to an incompatibility between Sierra and Wine.

In fact, I can see "Creating Hash Tables" (runs fine from 0 to 100 %), but then it stops.

So no "Testing unneeded" and nothing else either, of course.

Sadly no. I'm stuck with a rather old 1.8 version on macOS, although 1.9 is already available for other platforms.

I will either patiently wait for an update of Wine, or try CrossOver in the meantime (but that one's commercial).

Thanks for your help as usual, Roman.

Setting Adv_HideWindow to off had no effect, as did disabling all fix options and turning off asking before fixing.

I'm starting to think that the problem is due to macOS or WINE (or a combination thereof) as I just found out that I can't click on the "Cancel" button either. CMP hangs and I have to force restart it to regain control.

I already checked that. No such prompt.

Until last month CMP worked fine for years, but today when I tried to check my ROMs for the new release, it hangs at 0% at "Scanning Files" (everything else seems to work).

Maybe it's due to the fact that I updated last week macOS to version 10.12 (I'm using CMP using Wine 1.8 under macOS), or the new MAME release is to blame.

Anybody else experiencing any problems?

Thank you for your explanations.

I will postpone my decision what format to use until next release to see how painless updating will be.

Ah, I had to turn on "Merged Sets" in "You prefer" in the Scanner module, and "Hash Collision Name" in "Full Merge Mode Mode" in the Settings module.

I don't mind either way, although I prefer not to waste 20 GB of space, but my biggest concern is: will CMP be able to update my set in the future if it is in .t7z format, although I suppose an updated torrent file will also take care of updating pnly the relevant files?

clrmame Discussion / Re: ClrMAME and merged sets

It's not "fixed" because I replied "No" when CMP prompted me to do so.

Here's the 1941 archive. It decompresses just fine, and, again, the game runs without any problems.

The MAME binary is a self-compiled Mac OS X version of the official 0.174 release without any changes. I tried CMP with that binary and with a .dat file from PD with the same result.

I'm not so sure about that.

Here's some MAME output:

Code: [Select]
./mame64 -verifyroms 1941
romset 1941 is good
1 romsets found, 1 were OK.

The same in CMP:

Also, the game runs just fine. There's something else going on here.

clrmame Discussion / ClrMAME and merged sets
« on: 01 June 2016, 09:31 »
As MAME supports now .7zipped files and I wanted to move to merged sets (this will free about 20 GB on my internal hard disk), I replaced my ROMs with a fresh set from PD.

But verifying the set (even when using an external .dat file instead of the MAME executable as recommanded on PD's site), ClrMAME now complains about wrong names (they aren't), missing ROMs (they're present) and superfluous ROMS.

Maybe this is caused as I'm using ClrMAME on a Mac using WINE? Anybody had success with a similar setup to mine?

I just tried ClrMAME with CrossOver (commercial version of WINE) and it works (I guess because it is newer).

Setting the WINE prefix to Windows 7 doesn't help.

I don't have a copy of 4.0.23 (never downloaded it).

clrmame Discussion / Re: XP Users again

I'm using version 1.7.37.

I'm not aware of any more recent version of WINE for Mac OS X.

clrmame Discussion / Re: XP Users again

I'm using WINE on Mac OS X 10.10 and the current version (4.0.24) and the one you attached in your post both crash on start-up.

I hadn't the opportunity to test version 4.0.23, but 4.0.22 worked without a hitch.

I'm not sure it'll be helpful but I've attached the backtrace log from WINE anyway.

Works perfectly now, thanks a lot!

Will these changes be added to a new version of CMP permanently?
