Well, in your uploaded cmpro package you don't have the 'device' system enabled, that's why you get the lower count in setinformation. Go to systems and enabled 'device'.
I still can't repeat your behaviour of switching between MAME and MESS....

Hi Roman, I found another bug,  when using drag and drop roms in scanner window , clrmame - rebuild, scan and say  missing 0 roms, statistic window view - missing 0, Scanner window is empty. But i know missing other roms.
For atm my solution is - close clrmame , open clrmame, clear cache and scan again, Then I see others missing roms.
This problem does not always appear, however,

what do you mean with "know missing other roms". If you do a scan (not a full scan), it will only check the sets which had an issue in a previous scan, so it does not scan all sets. A full scan does this. However if you do a full scan and that reports a missing file, a following scan should list it as well..

...so give me an example what you mean.

misc:  don't write utf8 BOM for old-style dats
Hi Roman,
could you please also check the dir2dat routine? If I'm using old datfile format, it looks like the header is not correct.
TIA

What do you mean with not correct?

thanks for the details. I will do further checking in a week earliest due to holiday.

Hmm...looks interesting...
What do you actually do inbetween? I mean ok, new MAME profile, load it, go to set information, select %I=1, hit apply, shows 12/14027 and Namco* enabled...
But what then? Restart cmpro with the same profile? Or quit, reget data from a (changed) MAME executable? I tried various ways and currently it always show 12/14027 here.....

Maybe you have a step by step instruction...

I wonder if it's device-only related and not a set-information window issue....did you try a different filter?

another idea is that -if the problem occurs- you use the export button to export the currently loaded data as datfile (and send it to me)...then I/we can check if really no devices were parsed.

It's torrentzip's fault. Torrentzip does not support utf8 stored names and kills the utf8 encoding since it most likely encodes the names again with local code page encoding.

You're welcome...
Any place where you want to be able change the font? Theorectically all treecontrols are affected by the missing-character issue....so I might think of the profiler....
but I guess for now you're happy ;)

Well, I've tried only MAME but for several times and cannot reproduce this in any way. The screenshot does not show anything wrong. Devices are not counted separately so the title line is correct, the selected set 005 got no connections to devices and you haven't selected anything in "Select Sets" (e.g. %I=1).
Selecting %I=1 (+Apply) gives me 12/14027 Sets as title line count and e.g. the Namxo 51xx etc sets are enabled.
Assuming that your MAME/MESS binary always produces the same -listxml output, the parsing process is deterministic, so I don't see a reason why devices are once parsed correctly and the other time it's not....

clrmame Discussion / font selection test build
« on: 08 September 2011, 22:26 »
You suffer from the easter-europe utf8 tree control font issue?
You always wanted a larger font for the scanner output?
You got the circular zip rename issues?

Well, then get this test build here and unrar it over your installation:
http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/binaries/cmpFont.rar

This build fixes circular rename issues and got a font selector. It will change the font for the scanner tree output and the set-information tree and list control.
You can find the font selector in the "View" context menu of the scanner (right click in the scanner tree window, select View, then Select Font at the bottom.
For the Easter Europe UTF8 issue you should select a font which supports all characters (most likely Arial or Segoe UI do...).

Enjoy testing....I will enjoy holidays....

no prob ;) with the utf8 / unicode hell I went through I wouldn't be suprised if I broke diff scan, too ;)

hmm...I will have a look, however a diff scan has nothing to do with "something after an initial scan". A diff scan only checks the sets which changed compared to the last version of the dat (e.g. from one MAME update to another).

A "Scan" after a "New Scan" only scans the sets which had an issue in the previous "new scan" or "scan"...so it's limited to one and the same dat. A "diff scan" is not.

well....found a minor issue though....circular renames inside zips won't work (or better it is renamed but ends up with the original zip again...so with next scan you reget the message...it happens for example with tempest3 when you switch from u4 to u5).
I already fixed it in my build but I won't release an update before my holiday...you can easily get around by simply rebuilding the set in question....

clrmame Discussion / Re: Separate Games by region
« on: 08 September 2011, 19:14 »
well, it depends a bit ;) Your request sounds like filtering, not like splitting, however, both is possible...

there are datfiles out there which do use special region and language settings.....and of course you got 'normal' dats which simply encode region specific attributes in the set name...like "pacman (EUR)" for example...

For such cases you can go to scanner->set information (button in the scan tree window bottom left), then use the "select sets" edit box and hit apply afterwards. This will only enable the sets you select in the edit box (more later). Only activated sets are scanned/rebuilt/merged, so if you limit your set selection, you can e.g. rebuild EUR-only files to a new folder.

Now to the select sets edit box. This box understands some kind of regular expressions and variables... The variables are shown in the tooltip of the drop down box (move the mouse cursor over the arrow). Regarding regular expressions, you can e.g. enter %d=*(World)* to enable all sets which got a "(World)" in their description tag (%d). You can play around with logical not etc....

well, some little research pointed me to the correct direction....

http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/31482515/common-controls-and-unicode-support-problem.aspx

funnily enough a TreeCtrl uses a different font than e.g. an edit box and that used font doesn't support all characters...so in that case you see placeholders like blocks or pipe symbols in the control. Don't worry, internally everything is handled correctly, so you files will be correct...it's just a display issue...

The solution is to switch the font (e.g. to MS Shell Dlg) within the application for the tree control....something which will come in a later release

by the way, I found the reason for the empty/incomplete stats window....

...and the reason for listtool issue is the utf8 BOM....maybe I don't write it in a future version for old style dats

there is a "hidden" option in the cmpro ini file to produce a non-xml format...

...I will test it later tonight (am home from holiday #1, but will leave for holiday #2 soon). The only changes are that it is saved as utf8 (with BOM) and devices are included....so one of these things seem to break that tool.

Found other bug , in Scanner when click "Statistics" button, statistics window is empty.

then you might miss the stats.ini file, haven't scanned yet or something else happened what I will check when I'm back from holiday.

I can repeat the effect when I switch to Bulgarian ... seems like the used windows font doesn't have üöä characters available then....Sounds a bit like cmpro has to support font selection sometime in the future....
