thanks a lot for the donation! highly appreciated!
regarding the fix, all three issues which you reported are actually related and the current fixes are more or less workarounds. I will fi it properly next week.

actually the 29 alpha is pretty unstable and trashes memory a lot (at least the 7z frontend)...but hey...what do you expect from an alpha...

2264
turn off fix-missing and scanner advanced "deeper check for fixable missing files" and "additionally test sha1/md5 for matches"....these are not useful if you're scanning such big 1-set-100000-png sets.
...and check if maybe a prompt is hidden somewhere behind other windows waiting for an input.

2265
hmm...can't repeat this here...the chd is found and matched correctly...not handled as unneeded. maybe your cmpro.ini and belonging .cmp file from the settings folder can help....

:-)

now if I only would have more free time to put my nose into internal 7z support and a new rebuilder....

2267
A chd is listed as unneeded if the sha1 (for older chds, md5), information in the chd header is not matching at all to the database....

so either the sha1 is not part of the -listxml / -listsoftware part or - typical for converting baddump chds to chd version v5 - the chd is bad.

Can you please send me one (or let me know where I can download one) which causes the problem for you?

Oddi, they were talking about t7z issues, not cmpro issues. If you need exe based rename support, you can go with 9.29a, otherwise you should stick with 9.20 (latest stable).

2270
#1 if 7z is not supported, try zip or ask the project64 authors / faq / docs
#2 well, N64 files can exist in various byte orderings and with/without headers, so you may need to enable the N64 header support in settings (rompath drop down, select headers) to get them recognized.

4.08a

misc:  test if 7z/rar rename operation is available, otherwise it will be disabled automatically. You need to enabled it manually (if supported by 7z)...I may change that to auto-enable in the future.
fixed: rare obsolete missing but fixable chd message for sets without roms
fixed: workaround for 7z.exe no-file-in-archive corruption (e.g. after removing all files from it you were not able to add new files to it)

I've looked at the renaming issue...actually there is no issue :)

In case the rename operation is not supported, the file is handled as "not renamed" and moved to backup (but packed there as zip...so better check your backupfolder for zips). This is done with the scanner advanced option "move not renamed sets/roms to backup". If this option is not ticked, nothing happens and the files stay in the archive and are listed as failed renames.

I have no problems with renaming a 7.20 compressed 7z with 7.29a.

7Zip 9.29a uses lzma2 as default compression method...most likely t7z can't handle this correctly...but actually I don't care. :)

What I might think of is a general quick test at startup if the rename operation is available or not.

But again, there is no file loss, the move to backup is intended by the mentioned option, however it uses zip for the backups.

well, I'm aware of the general exe based rename issue...for your second example, did you clean the cache (i.e. were your datfile changes actually loaded...).

as I said...I will do something about it..thanks for mentioning the delete part.

You can try to send me your cmpro.ini file, the belonging *.cmp file (cmpro settings folder) for the used profile and some example files so I can create your environment somehow.

..and yes..you seem to be the only one :)
I did lots of tests and was not able to reproduce this at all.

You only have to uncheck the rename checkbox in the 7z settings....as mentioned in the whatsnew.txt for 4.08..then the old method (un-7z, re-7z) is used.
I will check if I can prevent the deletion somehow in case you're using an old 7z....
