clrmame Discussion / Slow even with checksums disabled
« on: 09 April 2016, 03:10 »
Hi!

I used a dat from http://www.progettosnaps.net/ with thousands of small PNG files.

I used clrmamepro to rebuild the files I had according to the dat, with the rebuilder set to keep the files uncompressed in the destination folder.

After rebuilding all the files I had, I needed to check if there were still missing files according to the dat.

To do that, I used clrmamepro's scanner with Check Checksums disabled, expecting that it would take only a few seconds to finish, but unhappily it was taking ages, just like it would if Check Checksums was enabled.

I think there's something wrong with it, it should be ultra fast when there's no need of calculating the checksums of files. Could you do something about it?

On Pleasuredome, there is a 1.3 TB torrent (MAME Software List CHDs), that must be Dir2Datted by the torrent author every time it's released.

misc:  prevent system sleep mode for scan, rebuild, merge tasks

What about Dir2Dat?

45
I don't get it.

Shouldn't "You want to scan" ==> CHDs = disabled be enough?

46
Thank you very much, abelenki!

the latest version of 7-zip which works correctly with cmp torrent7z ;D is 9.28 alpha.

...which is not available for download in the official 7-Zip website.

Do you know where can I find it? Or is it better to keep using version 9.22 beta?

No problem! This bug has affected us for a long time, possibly years! Waiting for a few days is easy!  ;)

You're the man!

I understand what you said, but we have to consider that CHDs are also files, and can be in a dat created via Dir2Dat.

I think it would be nice to have a checkbox in Dir2Dat to enable treating CHDs as a container, and thus adding the CHDs in disk tags (and of course getting the hashes info with chdman.exe) instead of in rom tags. This way the user could choose how the CHDs should be seen by clrmamepro.

Oh, and thank you for taking a look at this!

When using a dat generated by Dir2Dat only with CHD files, rebuilding works properly but scanning deletes all the CHDs.

Just to be clearer, here is part of the dat:

</game>

As you can see, the CHDs are in the "rom" tag, not in the "disk" tag as usually expected. This is because we need a dat to help users join a torrent at the highest percentage possible, not a dat that contains info on CHDs that work.

W00t!

Thank you very much for your time and effort!

I'll be waiting anxiously!

That's great news!

So clrmamepro will get more future-proof! That's nice.

That also means you'll probably have less stuff to update after the new code stabilizes  ;)

No problem, I'll wait. Maybe sometime in the future...

Problems like these I described only happened for me for the Nintendo 3DS stuff. As time goes by the files tend to get larger, and this will be a necessity someday. Not for MAME, as the larger files are usually CHDs.

I didn't know you had to buy a license to use ZIP64. You are right, it is better to use 7z instead, even if you have bought the license already.

Thanks for answering!

I'll report 2 bugs. They are probably related to each other:

1) When scanning large ZIP archives compressed in ZIP64 format and "decompress ROM & check CRC32" enabled in the "Hash and CHD Settings" window, the archives instantly fail with the message "Full archive integrity check reported errors or a header crc32 mismatch was found".
The archives were compressed by clrmamepro's rebuilder (64-bit), mostly in older versions. All the archives successfully pass the integrity tests of WinRAR 5.21 64-bit and 7-Zip 9.22 beta on Windows 7.
The smallest archive I have with this error is 2.12 GB, part of No-Intro's dat:

1018 - Senran Kagura 2 - Shinku (Japan).3ds
size="4294967296"
crc="42f9ec42"
md5="c726bf92ee0b3b7d604988f8a4e6c2d6"
sha1="a4d9a9bcd4ac8d30dea1f7b2745c01f052a8d282"

If needed, I can send you the file somehow.

2) The rebuilder doesn't recognize the ROMs mentioned above. The statistics window doesn't count the matches. No warnings are shown.

These are links I found to similar problems:
