Not for MAME [Arcade] version only.

MESS as subtarget
Arcade as subtarget
MAME as unified Version (MAME [Arcade]+MESS)

clrmame Discussion / Re: Update needed?
« on: 27 May 2015, 10:15 »
ehehe....well guess you have to wait till tonight then...

most likely for a quick fix you can edit engine.cfg and add a "replace machine game" for MAME...or switch to the MESS engine in the profiler...

The MESS engine in the profiler doesn't work too.
subtarget MESS 0.162

Can you mail me an example xml output please so I will have look at it later tonight?

Here the new full list in xml format of the systems (and their roms) supported by new MESS SVN builds.

The parameter on command line : mess -lx > new.xml
(SVN r7733)

If you have DL problems, please tell me.

Back to the clrmame problem:

These 2 lines were added to src/emu/info.c (MESS):

Code: [Select]
"\t\t<!ELEMENT softwarelist EMPTY>\n"
"\t\t\t<!ATTLIST softwarelist name CDATA #REQUIRED>\n"

and are causing the messages in clrmame.

Dear Roman,

it seems, clrmame have problems to scan the new MESS SVN releases which have now a new listsoftware (xml) support.

clrmame fails to import sets from the -listxml output (MESS.exe -listxml) :

Set
<no description>\<no setname> wasn´t imported!

The problem might be related to the new lines

<softwarelist name="gamepock" />
<softwarelist name="bbcbc" />

which maybe clrmame cannot handle properly.

If Fabio Priuli (MESS developer) take the listxml output and convert it to a clrmame dat by using Logiqx's dutil, then this dat works perfectly with clrmame. Hence the problem seems to be in the way clrmame parses the xml file, not in the xml output.

Roman, are you interested to add support for parsing software lists? If yes, you have any suggestions?

You can check the current discussion on the official MESS message board.

Thanks in advance.

Anna Wu

PS: You can use bobz automatic MESS SVN builds or you compile your own build for testing.
