Exactly...... as I said. now i think i understand more how to use the clrmamepro.

Anyway yes....... my entire personal roms collection it's on split. I know very well that I currently have sets without required chd.
these are usually the settings I use for my scans (the preview it's completely cutted down...):

at full scan complete the result it's be populated by a lot of sets need his CHD files. But as i said i am aware of this :)

other times I also usually do scans using the 'Avail. Sets' and i uncheck 'Hide Fully-Missing Sets':
In this case the scan result report about 10 sets..... also in this case there's sets whit 'no know' roms or whitout chd :)

It's not really recommended to disable sets in set information. You have to understand what that means if you do so.
There are options for example which mark unselected sets as unneeded (Scanner-> Advanced). Other problematic cases are if you e.g. enable clones while disabling parents and so on. Disabling sets is nothing you usually need to do.

So....Problem 1: You have incomplete sets due to missing chds. Well....either you're the "gonna get them all" guy, then find them and add them. Or you're the "I don't want them" guy, then either don't scan for chds or disable the set (and its parent/all its clones) or find/edit a datfile which suits your needs better.

Problem 2: ddr3ma ...well...can't really tell you since I can't see if it's enabled or not. If cmpro wants to rename it, then it has a good reason for it. If it's disabled then surely ddr3ma is not known and then it tries to find a set which matches best for the data inside the zip.

So...keep all sets enabled and decide yourself "I need the chds" or "I don't need the chds". You can - as you already found out -  temporarily close your eyes on the chd errors by toggling the checkbox.
Question 1....... you know sometime a CHD it's about 500MG also sometime about 1GB of size. If the CHD it's a part of a 'NOT WORKING' game it might be a good idea not to add the CHD file in my case to preserve some spaces on my HDD.
Take this for example...... look this scan result:
https://ibb.co/SP5msW8

look the selected sets.... ddr3mk. Apparently all "Dance Dance Revolution" variant it's all mark as 'NOT WORKING'. Where possible i have add the correct 'romset' but not add the CHD file. So if i disable 'CHD' on 'You want to scan' i can considerer all this game as 'know issue'

Question2: About 'ddr3ma.zip' it's a case made my crazy :) Especially because I don't understand what he wants :)
So....... on my roms there's no 'ddr3ma.zip' ..... if i look this picture:

am I saying exactly ?
- dd3ma.zip need to contain the file 'hd6473644h.18e' If i understand this rom it's 'NOT KNOW' or 'NOT ALREADY DUMPED'.
- This sets also need two parent. 'k573_dio.zip' and 'k573mcr.zip' it's correct ? Apparently i have correctly this two parent/bios file... it's correct ?
- Also.... for this games i also need the CHD file '887aaa02.chd'

Is what I just said correct?

So... if i want to resolve all this 'issue' whit this sets in that picture at least I have to satisfy the correct contain of .zip file... correct ?

then it's up to me to choose or not to add the file CHD. it's correct ?

I have also to understand.......... all those files with the eeprom icon with the question mark represent the files they currently are 'NOT KNOW' or 'NOT ALREADY DUMPED' ? It's correct ?

if everything is right let's say that I understood better how clrmamepro does it jobs... lol

If you remove incomplete sets and run another scan and you got "fix missing" enabled, it's pretty likely that the messages reappear, simply because it found one of the missing entries in a different set.
If you want to ignore some sets due whatever reason, you can either modify the datfile or go to set information and enable just the ones you're interested in

Yes, if you toggle the checkboxes after a scan, the results tree is updated.

"If i put this files on 'Roms' folder.... it's be removed by scanner..... because ?"  ???? which files? if you have valid chds on a rompath root, they can get moved to their correct subfolder. If you're talking about other files, they are unneeded and get removed (-> backup folder).
mmmmmm... ok.
Now i understand the CHD story and how it's approx works. Lol..... at right now look an example.
This a my FULL scanner result:

Or you can found all result here:
https://pastebin.com/FqLx3iA7

From this result....... if i disable the 'CHD' check on 'You want to scan' all games disappears correctly.

Apparently here it's correct ways....... now i have a different issue/trouble when i do a 'Avail. Sets' scan.
I have obtain this:

Or paste result here:
https://pastebin.com/emNDyrUg

Look an example...... the first sets need called "ddr3ma".
The second question it's:
If i copy ddr3ma.zip of my 'Roms' folder the scanner ask me to rename and after that it's delete the same files. I become in a infinite loop.
I have the correct files..... i copy it on "Roms" folder but clrmamepro delete it..... how it's possible ?

4
I remember i have already spoken here about a similar issue about one half years ago...... recently i have update my mame to 0.256 and made a "scanner" whit clrmamepro and look at right now the result:

or miniature here:

I have, from clrmamepro also created this paste info here:
https://pastebin.com/VFzyVwf1

All this sets listed here in some of case required his specific CHD file. Problably all of them it's part of "NOT WORKING" games or in some cases it's unwanted games or partial files.
It's exist one ways to remove/move this incomplete sets from my HDD ?

The possibly strange thigs:
After a full scanner complete i have tryed to use the "Move" feature from "scan result" windows. All zip it's been moved to a external 'Roms" folder but on next scan i do clrmamepro recreate all this partial zip and all sets reappears on the list from beginning :)

I also think the question is different than the old thread or not ?

*EDIT*
Oh.. very interesting:
to temporarily hide all this need CHD sets:
- Do a full scan whit CHD option enabled.
- After the scan it's complete i just found out that by turning on/off the CHD in 'You want to scan' the scan result it's be change on the fly and it's not need a new scan. Interesting feature.

*EDIT 2*
Also again... after this upper disclouse (lol):
You can help me better to explain this situation:
https://pastebin.com/1NUvYMXL
If i put this files on 'Roms' folder.... it's be removed by scanner..... because ?

5
Again...mtchxl5k, mtchxl5ko, mtchxl5ko2 etc are sets, not roms...

so simply go to scanner->scan results -> set information

Enter "mtchxl5k;mtchxl5ko;....." (semicolon separated) in Select Sets
hit Apply
hit Invert
and tick "initial invert"

You only need to modify the dat if you want to exclude ROMS, not SETS.
And i say i have a lot of confusion....... ok it's sets.

Now.. From "Set Information" i do this:
1 - Click "Select None"
2 - On "Select Sets" i have put this string "mtchxl5k;mtchxl5ko;mtchxl5ko2;mtchxlgld;mtchxlgldo;mtchxlti;pesta" (whitout "")
3 - Click on "Apply" and only this sets are correctly selected.

At this point if i click on "Invert" i can do a "All Sets" Scanner whitout this sets...... ok.. this is ok.

But it's possible to obtain a similar result but starting from "Avail. Sets" enabled (or using only the "Avail. Sets" selected) ? You have some suggestion ?

I have tryed to click on "Avail. Sets" -> "Apply" no good (ever whit same string inserted on "Select Sets").
Click on "Avail. Sets" -> Tick "Initial Invert" no good.

6
you're talking about sets, not roms.
Sets can be enabled/disabled in Scanner->Scan Results->Set Information (button bottom left)

Single roms of a set can only be removed on datfile level.
lol sorry me confusion but yeah i always made a lot of confusion on my head when i need to to distinguish this....

so if i want to disable these singles roms from scanning i can made a copy of current dat (0.241) and modify that deleting that entries ?
is it simple to do this? I need to obtain the xml from official mame.exe or i can modify the dat actually i have on my clrmamepro ? if so, where do I locate it ? I have tryed to look inside datfile and there's a file called mame.dat but it's not the file i need.

Inside cache folder i have two files.. one it's about 60MB but i can't edit whit notepad++.......

*EDIT*
apparently clrmamepro has a similar function... but you get exactly the opposite of what I would like to do.
I try this:
1 - I have saved this 7 roms name in a text file called toexclude.txt
2 - Open "Set Information" from Scanner and use the function "From File"

When i click on LOAD this specific 7 roms are be selected correctly :)

But apparently there's no way to do the "reverse operation" for example when after you use "Select All" and deselect some roms from same file.
I have tryed to:
1- Use "Select All"
2- Use "From File" and click "Unload"... no work ...

7
On my little mame collection i have a lot (about 6 o 7 files) need the .chd files.
As these roms are parts of all games "NOT WORKING" (for bad dumps or similar) I decided not to use the file for conserve a lot of HDD space.

So every scanner i see this romset appears on scanner result......... my question it's i can exclude this specific file in some mode ??

*EDIT*
for the record i need to exclude this file:
Code: [Select]
mtchxl5k
mtchxl5ko
mtchxl5ko2
mtchxlgld
mtchxlgldo
mtchxlti
pesta
It's possible ?

clrmame Discussion / Re: cmpro 4.044 released

nobody uses the merger, it's obsolete, don't use it
And also limiting the set list is not that common either....one place to do it is more than enough ;)
Lol.. I probably don't think I've ever used the "merger" in fact. Scanner and Rebuild i thinks it's enough...

SetInformation -> Select Sets (and all the other options there) enables/disables sets for all scenarios, scanner, rebuilder, merger. So it's a global setting.

You can see that in the window title that only a subset is active (then it lists something like x of y)
Yeah i know... i understand it's a global setting.
But it's selectable only from scanner and not from merger or rebuilder... because ?

clrmame Discussion / Re: cmpro 4.044 released

I have problably miss a feature on this 4.044..... try to explain:

when I make one "scanner" on my little mame roms collection i can enable/disable option from "Set Information".
Usually for example i make a scanner whit "Avail. Sets" selected and also whit "Select All" option......
If i found some Sets whit issue usually i need to redownload this files roms for Fix this issue....... after this usuall i use "Rebuild" feature.
If i made a scanner whit "Avail. Sets" -> and after Download some news file like missing sets  i need to re-enable "Select All" on "Set Information" for made a correct Rebuild (otherwise the new files will not find them).

On "Rebuild" feature it's not possible to enable or disable the "Set Information"....... you can add this button also on "Rebuild" section ?

11
mmmmmmm.. before that message i never touch anythings on Set Information. I use for many yearsa clrmamepro but I limited myself to a little understanding of the functioning of the rebuilder and that of the scanner but only now I have discovered something of the Set Information.

About other forums... it's all italian italian board. I'm already regged on ArcadeMania for example..... speaking about clrmamepro whit other italian members it's a good idea infact from the beginnigs i ask if i can open a thread on italian section here on same board :)

12
Sorry for late answering.... I had a few days of commitment.
mmmmmmm..... in fact now that I think about it I was making some mistakes previously.

Ok.. i use split set.
Full scan result check if in my rom patch...... and show result:
- as you say if some check fails in a zip files (bad names, missing files, wrong crc or similar) it's be marked as "Bad" or "Incomplete"
- if check don't found a zip files it's be showed in result as red cross

it's exact right now ?
but if I have a zip files of a parent (whitout any issue) whitout the original zip that's it's not appears on "avaible" on mame after refresh but at same time clrmamepro will not show errors after a scan.

If i understand correctly.... for do a correctly check on my entire zip files i need to do:
- Do a complete scan whitout "hide-missing"
- And only after i need to do change on "Set Information"...

Only in this mode i thinks i can really check all my zip files and found if i have some parents zip whitout the original or other similar issue...

right ?

*EDIT After about 2 hours of test*
Problably i never understand how it's really works this scanner and it's "Set Information" :)
I Made some test:
1) Open Scanner... whitout do anythings i open Set Information
2) If i click on "Select All" on top bar i can read "40916/40916 Sets, 72/72 BIOS, 53/53 CHD Region".

At this point if i click on "New Scan" it's be start a full total scan. I wait the reach 100% and and infinite list appears on "Scan Result". An Infinite "red cross" list not easy to navigate.

At this point i reopened the "Set Information"... i enabled the 4 "incl." voices and click on "Avail. Sets". After doing this I can read "4322/40916 Sets, 63/72 BIOS, 53/53 CHD Region".

At this point i have some question:
- I have tryed to start a "New Scan". After reach 100% i have try to export the list of "Incomplete" Sets and nothing happens (I believe because in my set there are no roms with missing files) ?
- I take a look at this "Scan Result". I think the list now shows me all the parent roms that I don't have at all.... it's about 1000 titles :(

I still haven't figured out how I can possibly identify if in my rompath it's present again some orphan roms which therefore needs the "main" roms for obtain the games can correctly appears on "Available" list on mame....... i need to study better how all it's works.

"Hide Fully-Missing set" hides -guess what- only fully missing sets. If you miss only one out of 10 roms of a set it's not fully missing and will be displayed.
The option is dangerous since even if you get a clean/empty result tree it means that you might miss sets....if you only have 1% of all sets you get a clean result while in reality you miss 99%. Each set, no matter if parent or clone, is listed separately. Clones will only list their clone files, not the parent ones since they are shared.

So if you got a clone set and it does not appear in the list since you got "all" its roms it only means that the clone is ok. To play the game you do need the parent...which might be completely missing.

To sum it up: There is not really a reason to turn on the "hide fully missing sets". Keep it disabled and scan. If you only collect a small set out of the big MAME collection, it's better to enable/disable sets in the set information dialog, there you can always automatically enable belonging parents/devices/bios sets, too.
Let's see maybe if i have understand how it's works:
If i enable the "Hide Fully-Missing set" and do i scan i obtain an empty scan result but it is possible that mine zip roms collection contains some zip files that in them are missing some files that would be considered "Incomplete" set... right ?

At this point my ideal solution would be to:
- Do a full scan whit "Hide Fully-Missing set" option disabled (and this leads to a series of very long red crosses).
- And only then try to filter the zip files I don't have on my rompath

In this way, in theory, I should get a complete list of all my sets and find out which ones are actually incomplete or have some missing files inside it whether they are parent or original roms.... it's right ? Is it possible to get something like that ?

How i can obtain somethigs similar ? From "Set Information"

Hi... i'm newest italian boys here :)
I have need some help whit usage of last CLRMamePRO 4.035.
On my PC i have a little collection of roms whit a setup of latest mameui 0.215.
I have use CLRMamePro so many times... i thinks i can use good but now i see i need some help and i have some dubs about the usage.
I try to explain:
I do a full scan... before to start i choose to "Hide Fully-Missing set" for not obtain a red cross.
When scan it's complete i obtain a completely clean SCAN RESULT........... I thought this indicated that my little roms collection it's completely ok whitout any incomplete set or parent missing instead there should be something wrong.
For example:
I take a little look inside my roms folder...... i see inside of this there's present some parents zip files. Little examples like "mk2r91.zip" "mkla1.zip" la2 and la3.zip and many other "Mortal Kombat X" (when x indicates 1 2 3 or 4) parents roms.
All this files apparently it's parents of respective mk mk2 mk3 and mk4.zip right ?

Before to download this 4 files first i have do a scan...... apparently no errors or missing appears on scan result. I open Mame and refresh my "Avaible" files. After scan complete the various MK parents roms not appears on list. To find out that I needed the four mkx.zip i need to manually "Audit" all parent zip files and only after this i have downloaded.... rebuilt it.... made another scan whit clrmp and made another refresh title on mame and only now all Mortal Kombat titles as correctly appears.

At this point the question it's it:
because if the zip files of all parents roms were present on the roms path but they were missing the original roms clrmamepro did not indicate it in the results of the scanner ??
It's a bug or it's need to activate some option on scanner ??

Sorry for my BAD english..... i see this section it's need to use english. If you think I can open a new thread using Italian it's better... let me know it :)
