Thanks, that kind of worked. If I was using split sets, I think it would've worked better. With non-merged, I could not find most of the files I needed, since those were not in the selected sets. I used the manual process of:

1. Copying the parent rom into the folder.
2. Add parent rom to selected sets.
3. Run merge.
4. Remove parent rom from selected sets.
5. Delete parent rom file.
6. Rescan

This succeeds. It would be nice to pull from the complete rom set, but then only merge/fix the selected sets. Is there a way to do that?

I've downloaded a MAME 0.106 dat file and will try to build that set. If you have another great hint, please let me know. Thanks.

clrmame Discussion / Complete a limted MAME collection

I'm wondering if it's possible to use cmpro for someone who isn't trying to collect every rom in existence. I have selected less than 400 games, and I'd like to make each zip file contain all the roms to run that game, even if that means some duplication. I think the term is "non-merged", if I read the tutorials correctly.

Of course, running a scan gives me so much missing, that I can't find what I actually need. Searching this forum, I found:

Hide Fully-Missing Sets

This is great, and so I could now use this as an auditor and manually fix the missing roms. However, I cannot have cmpro fix it, because it still tries to fix everything, not just what is shown in the Scan Results window.

Second attempt: I made a dat file.

I downloaded "MAME v0.173 - (Arcade).dat" and wrote a python script to delete all game nodes not in my text list. I added it with Add DatFile, but it doesn't appear to give me more options. CMPro is still using the full list, which it got from the exe file. I can't make a mame profile without pointing to an exe, and if I don't select a profile, I am kicked to the profiler. Strangely, although many people offer dat files for download, I can't find any talk or docs on how they are used. If cmpro can complete and verify my roms based on my dat file, then that would be perfect.

Any hint on how to proceed, or an alternate method to achieve my goal would be appreciated. Thanks.
