clrmame Discussion / better raw file support
« on: 07 June 2014, 15:28 »
Hi Roman,

Any chance we get a better raw file support? Especially a scan result cache feature for raw files.

Currently clrmamepro rechecks raw files hashes at every scan, whether you select "new scan" or just "scan", and it's a real hassle when the files are really large (for example sets from redump.org).

clrmame Discussion / chd issues
« on: 23 January 2013, 13:44 »
1) it seems clrmame pro is reporting all CHD bad dumps as unneeded

2) when activating system default paths it seems I can no longer keep my current structure (/roms/ and /chd/ on different folders) because clrmame can not assign more than 1 path per system

Time to update mame set after a whole year of release skipping

while importing database from mame binaries several things appeared unclear to me

1. filenames collision, when two files from a parent-clone set have same filename and different hash

cmpro asking you to either remove parent clone relationship which seems lame to me, OR force split-merged, but what's the difference between the latter and removing P/C ? Also would it apply only to the one faulty rom or to the whole set? Haven't found answers anywhere.

2. software list import

again very unclear, clrmame says it detects softlists, but nowhere it is said which one it detects, the last mame 0.148 package from mamedev includes all softlists whether mame or mess, so is cmpro going to import all of them or can it select the mame-only ones? and what would be the pros/cons of not importing softlist as cmpro suggests, would that avoid duplicate sets for instance?

Thank in advance

Currently in merged mode, the rebuilder remake an archive whenever it finds a rom that is included in the set. that's not a problem with common stuff, but if you try rebuilding say a doctor layton 7zipped set which includes about 7 or 8 2-gig roms, then it becomes very nasty as you can imagine. Wouldn't it be smarter to look for everything that can be included in the set, then rebuild the archive.

Hello Roman,

Last week I have rebuilt some of my sets to merge them with torrents. I launched the rebuilder before going to work at to my great disappointment it stopped due to an error by the time I was back, a bad zip or whatever. I asked it to ignore and go on, on the morning it stopped again, and so on for days. It was incredibly annoying as you can imagine. So even tho it's too late for me please add an option "always ignore errors" at the first warning. May be helpful for others or might be helpful for me in the future.

On a not so related note, I noticed decompressing and t7z re-compressing manually with a batch file file is about 20 times faster than asking clrmame to do it. Can you look into this please? I don't get why clrmame would be that butt slow, it basically does the same stuff as the batch, minus the checksum verification.

As always keep up the good work.  8) Thanks.

clrmame Discussion / torrent7z

The cmpro can use 7z to re-compress and this is really great, but it would be even better if it could also use torrent7z. The advantage is t7z is standardizing things to make sharing (of legal files) easier while keeping a good compression ratio.

Please Roman, could you add t7z support to cmpro.  :D

Thank you very much.  :)
