clrmame Discussion / Custom Parent-Clone Dat Question
« on: 13 February 2017, 15:46 »
Hello, I did a search and didn't see this posted so hopefully I didn't overlook anything.

I was building a custom parent-clone dat and I'm trying to figure out how to make the parent display a different name than the files contained within. Here is an example from a Parent-Clone No-Intro DAT file which lists the archive as Knuckles' Chaotix (Europe)

Code: [Select]
<game name="Knuckles' Chaotix (Europe)">
<description>Knuckles' Chaotix (Europe)</description>
<rom name="Knuckles' Chaotix (Europe).32x" size="3145728" crc="41D63572" md5="4CE9E6B6E8883D8A678D90AABCE022D0" sha1="5C1A2E327A656217604D4BAE7E141764A7E59922"/>
</game>
<game name="Chaotix ~ Knuckles' Chaotix (Japan, USA)" cloneof="Knuckles' Chaotix (Europe)">
<description>Chaotix ~ Knuckles' Chaotix (Japan, USA)</description>
<rom name="Chaotix ~ Knuckles' Chaotix (Japan, USA).32x" size="3145728" crc="D0B0B842" md5="47B1095E68B053125CD2CD5B1AC4EB50" sha1="0C2FFF7BC79ED26507C08AC47464C3AF19F7CED7"/>
</game>

Is there a way to name the compressed archive Knuckles' Chaotix without the region tag, but still have the following roms contained within the archive
 - Knuckles' Chaotix (Europe).32x
 - Chaotix ~ Knuckles' Chaotix (Japan, USA).32x

I've tried a few different things but I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

clrmame Discussion / Mame Dat help
« on: 26 January 2012, 14:38 »
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I'm getting an "error while saving settings" error message when I try to load the mame64.exe into clrmamepro.

Just to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong,

1. Click on Create in the Profiler
2. Navigate to the mame64.exe file
3. Type MAME in teh description field
4. Select MAME as the emulator
5. Click Create Profile

I don't know why I'm getting the error but can someone post the latest mame dat file because I can't seem to get it to work  :-/

clrmame Discussion / clrmamepro hardware question
« on: 27 July 2011, 12:21 »
I noticed that some of the larger dat's I've tried to run through clrmamepro take an extremely long time to process fixes while sets like NES for instance only take a couple of seconds. What would make the scanning / renaming process faster? Would more RAM make the process go faster or would a better CPU be needed?

I'm just curious because I don't want to waste more money on RAM if it's not really going to give any speed performance.

I had an old version of clrmamepro installed on my 64 bit PC running windows 7 and everytime I clicked the Check Now button within the Update button within the About section of clrmamepro, I get the following error.

Quote
Can't receive version information

So I deleted the old version of clrmamepro and reinstalled the newest version at the time which was 3.137d

However a new version is out now (3.138) so I tried clicking on the Check Now button again but I'm still getting that weird error. Does anyone know whats going on or an easier way to update to the most recent version of clrmamepro without have to delete / reinstall everything?

clrmame Discussion / Folders and new dat creation
« on: 23 February 2011, 03:42 »
Hello, I have a quick question about roms inside folders.

Is there a way in clrmamepro to create a dat file that will ensure roms are inside folders?

For example: If I wanted all the Mega Man games inside a folder

Mega Man (zipped file)
  - Mega Man (folder)
    -  Mega Man 7 (rom)
    -  Mega Man X (rom)
    -  Mega Man X 2 (rom)
    -  Mega Man X 3 (rom)

Every time I try to create a DAT file to support this it asks me to remove the folders when auditing the new DAT I created.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

So I wanted to thank the creator of this tool... wow I never realized how ridiculously AWESOME this software is. It has a slight learning curve but once you understand how to use it, it is very helpful for keeping rom sets up to date!

Anyways, I was going to put in a feature request to allow completed dats to be sorted or hidden from view but it turns out that won't be necessary I just found out how to create folders in the profiler, which is very useful. I decided to create the following folders to house my dat sets

Profiles
 - MAME
   - Completed
   - Missing
 - No-Intro
   - Completed
   - Missing
 - Redump
   - Completed
   - Missing

Currently there are only two ways to view dats in different folders at the same time; for instance redump completed & missing dats

1. Manually move the dats to the same folder
    - Down Side: extra work involved, then you'll have to move them back to the original folder when done
2. Select the all profiles option
    - Down Side: it not only shows the desired dats but all available dats

So onto my feature request. Would you be able to create an all profiles option for each folder instead of just an overall all profiles option. Meaning that if I right clicked the redump folder and selected all profiles then I would get to view the dats in the redump completed and missing folders while excluding all other dats from the no-into & mame folders?
