clrmame Discussion / Filter dat by Region?
« on: 23 May 2010, 13:50 »
Hello there.

I have a dat file with several games in it from 3 different regions (EUR, USA, JAP), although having a look at the structure of the dat with Dat Workshop Pro 2.24, there isn't any "metadata" field for the region, and the roms only include this info at the Name field (noted with (EUR), (USA) or (JAP) respectively).

I'd like to "trim" the dat and create a custom dat only containing the roms with the chain (EUR) on their name. Or tell clrmamepro to ignore all the roms that don't contain the chain (EUR) on their names (or ignore the ones with (USA) or (JAP), if that's more simple).

Is it possible?

Thanks in advance!

Hello there.

I guess this operation must be easy, but I don't know how to do it properly.

I have, let's say, 3 roms in a folder compressed in zip and its correspondant dat (with Dir2Dat function), called:

a.zip
b.zip
c.zip

On the other hand, I have a dat, to which I'd like to match the roms, which says that:

a.zip should be 3.zip
b.zip should be 1.zip
c.zip should be 2.zip

I can only accomplish it using the rebuilder option, pointing to the roms folder, and using only the second dat, but that implies having to scan the roms in the zip, checking the hashes, renaming and compressing them again. I'd like to ask if there is a function to somehow "compare" the dats and creating a renaming *.bat or something similar.

In my example, there are only 3 roms, but in the reality they are +5000 (that's why the rebuilding method would last several days, I left it for 1 hour and it got rebuilt ~90 roms).

Thanks as always.

Here I go again (sorry roman for all the questions).

I have a No-Intro set, say, Atari 5200, 100% verified, and in Full/zip format. And I'd like to filter the roms in it with a Hyperspin xml which doesn't follow the No-Intro dat structure (but they both match name, description, crc...) and therefore, I can't directly load it in clrmamepro to start the rebuilding as I'd do with a dat.

The No-Intro dat: Atari 5200 dat

Code: [Select]
game (
name "Activision Decathlon, The (USA)"
description "Activision Decathlon, The (USA)"
rom ( name "Activision Decathlon, The (USA).a52" size 16384 crc F43E7CD0 md5 45F8841269313736489180C8EC3E9588 sha1 DB203973DF13B071DA46D52FDB078A76F4DB428D )
)

The HyperSpin xml: Atari 5200 xml

Code: [Select]
<game name="Activision Decathlon, The (USA)">
<description>Activision Decathlon, The</description>
<crc>f43e7cd0</crc>
<manufacturer>Activision</manufacturer>
<year>1983</year>
<genre/>
</game>

Is there any way I could "load" the xml so I could filter and rebuild the romset from No-intro? Do I need to convert the xml to dat with some other program beforehand?

Thanks a bunch.

Hi roman and fellas.

I have a question about merging a set.

I have an original No-Intro fullset/zipped/torrentzipped of, say, Commodore - Amiga (20090626) with its correspondant dat (Commodore - Amiga (20090626).dat) and P/C xml (Commodore - Amiga Parent-Clone (20090626).dat), both downloaded from the official http://no-intro.org site.

I would like to merge/7z the full set using clrmamepro. Previously I perform a full Scan+Fix of Roms and Sets with the regular dat, resulting 0 missing/0 fixes. Ok, then I load the Parent-Clone dat into the profiler, default, rebuilder-->source (Commodore Amiga full/zip folder) -->destination (Comodore Amiga merged/7z folder), merge options-->merge sets, compress sets-->7z, rebuild.

It takes a little time to perform it, but the rebuilt set isn't merged at all, although it's 7zipped. The rebuilt set has exactly the same number of files than the source one (although it has been built with the parent-clone dat), the space gain is achieved from being 7zipped instead of zipped, but it's not merged.

I just checked it again by using zip as the compressor in the rebuilding proccess and comparing the two folders (original-->fullset, rebuilt-->merged) and they are exactly the same size.

Is it possible to merge sets with clrmamepro? Or do I have to use GoodMerge? Do I have to check another option?

Hello fellas.

I have a list of dats, and I'd like to know how much space in HDD would take the roms they contain, individually (one dat) and totally (all dats). If it could be exportable to an html or something similar it would be great. Like the option from clrmamepro, but not only showing name, missing sets, missing roms, but also space in HDD.

The only way I managed to show it, was doing a previous Scan on a random folder and seeing the Statistics, but it would be a pain in the ass to repeat this process for the 720 dats :S I'd prefer to see the space needed in a list (offline or online).

I'm working with clrmamepro 3.131b / Dat Workshop Pro 2.21, but if any other program is needed, plese tell me.

Many thanks :)

Hello to all the community.

I'm using clrmamepro 3.131 x64 and I'd like to merge a romset originally in Non-Merged set and compressed in .zip to a Split set in .7z compression. But either the merger nor the rebuilder tab give me the option to do this. In the rebuilder tab I simply can't choose the option Split sets, as I show in the image below, and in the Merger one, after selecting Split sets and .7z compression the button at the top down-right, (Un-)Merge, simply does nothing (I guess there should be a Merge button not an (Un-)Merge one).

I'm using the last dat set for this romset and in Scan+Fix proccess it gives me 0 missing roms/sets.

?Is it not possible to merge Non-Merged sets into Split ones? ?Do I need anything else?

Any kind of help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
