clrmame Discussion / Needed files are reported as unneeded?
« on: 14 October 2011, 18:56 »
Hi Roman,
what am I doing wrong here?
I collect parents only and scan using "Select sets = %c=?*" (logical not). This results in 8618 sets to be scanned.
For some strange reason, CMP keeps reporting the following files to be unneeded, but in fact they ARE needed for the rom parent:
bosco: 50xx.bin, 51xx.bin, 52xx.bin, 54xx.bin (same for some more Namco romsets)
btoads: bsmt2000.bin (same for some more games using bsmt2000 sound)
Now I'm aware that this is not the typical way to collect and scan romsets, therefore maybe nobody noticed this problem before. Is it my fault? And yes, I'm on version 4.01.
Thanks for your help!
Sven

Must be me then. You're welcome for a coffee anytime you visit Berlin :)

Do I have to do a "New scan" on the basis of "You prefer: Split sets" before I can do this? Because up till now I prefered merged sets.

Does this still work?

I tried exactly this selection but the rebuilder still creates all the clone roms in my target folder.
Also setting this selection does not chance the number of selected sets in the Set Information Window.
Yes, I did all the three steps (tried many times). Would love to get rid of all clones from my sets, is this still possible?

Many thanks in advance!
Sven

I would sum it up this way: Mame supports it, but Clrmame doesn't. Thank you anyway my friend.

 ;D

Why?

1) Zipped chds are (in average) 10% smaller. That's a lot of diskspace.
2) Mame supports it fine.

Thanks anyway.

Hi Roman,
I've read that you consider it to be "dirty" to store CHD subfolders as packed ZIP files in your ROMS rootfolder. Nevertheless it still works in MAME and saves some disk space.
Therefore I have set the option "allow CHDs in ROMpath root" to yes inside the advanced scanner options. But still my zipped subfolders are reported as unneeded files and Clrmame suggests to delete them. What can I do?
Thanks for your assistance!
Svenny
