I re-tried just now, previously I was fixing my MAME romset. I disabled fix missing but it's surely slower than before (it started 40 minutes ago and still running), with same hardware/set (mame snaps)/archive/settings... I use your great tool for almost 15 years... never got this issue.

edit: I leaved tha scan running and got back after 6 hours... well it was still running, so I killed the process...

How should I know what happened ;-)

There were no changes from 4.045 to 4.046b which were anyhow speed related. And since noone else reported such a slow down, it must be something on your end.....could be anything...from a busy hd (due to other threads accessing it, incl. virusscanners), to bad network drivers when it's a net drive, etc...etc.

Or maybe you've enabled things like sha1 checking or other time consuming options.

So...."What happened" is nothing I can give an answer to.

"Here it runs fine and fast"

Dont'k know how to debug, but in WINE latest clrmamepro runs slow also.
(Yeah, could be something "wrong" on WINE side)
I'm using it on Windows, at the moment.

I didn't make any change in settings (SHA1, etc.) other romsets seems to be almost unchanged in terms of speed.
Disk isn't busy and tried to reboot the whole PC.
The antonpisa snaps archive is a quite large zip file (almost 1.8 GB) so I supposed that something was changed with the newer version, but if it isn't so I'll have to make some further checks.

3
Today I upgraded to te latest 4.046b, coming from 4.045 and started to mantain my romsets with MAME .247 release. I got very slow speed with scanning (with fix) or rebuilding. What happened?
The archive is on a SATA 7200RPM disk (170mb/sec speed with cleardiskmark).

Thank you.

I solved by myself, I use combined mode, the rompath of pc98_cd set was disabled, once enabled that works.
The strange thing is that I got that error for only 4 chds of that set.

5
I get this error:

Brandish Renewal [softwarelist: pc98_cd - folder: brandnew - size: 3mb]
missing chd: brandish (japan) (renewal).chd [chd-sha1: d804bc3ddb997443b0ba856bac3eb2d8d333a8a7]

But I have the CHD in the right place.

clrmame Discussion / Running from NAS
« on: 28 April 2021, 15:33 »
I'm trying to move my whole Emulator directory to a Synology NAS, I modified all the paths inside my emus configuration and cmpro, pointing to my NAS smb share. But it seems to be very slowish when import data from mame exe and writing files into temp folder.
What should I do?

7
I just tested the new build and it deleted many roms inside romsets, mainly neogeo roms, for almost a gigabyte of data. No more pippin romset issue, too.

Thank you!

8
Thank you for your hard work.

If it can help I found another software list which is wrongly intrepeted: some "pippin" chds are marked as in wrong rompath but they are in the right place:

misplaced romset: \pippin\aishogi (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\catalog (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\chisatom (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\circus (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\compton (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\gadget (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\lzone (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\music1 (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\sdgundam (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\shockwav (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\supermar (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\tamagotc (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\thomas (move to a rompath)
misplaced romset: \pippin\ultraman (move to a rompath)

Ok thanks, I just rescanned with nightly and deleted the highlighted files from the romsets. Scanned ended without errors but I noticed that there are some roms inside romsets that still will be manteined and doesn't give any warning.
For example, I get warning aboute "triple7" romset inside electron_cass software list, but got no warning for triple1, triple2 etc... which are included (wrongly) inside the romset (only triple8 is in the right place, the others need to stay inside bbc_cass software list). So I suppose that there are still some sets which is not recognized as wrong.

10
and I think your "full software list mode" is my "combined mode", i.e. you have only one profile for MAME and all/subset of its software lists and not one profile per softwarelist, am I right?

You're right: one profile and multiple rom paths setted in.

11
Just ended to scan my romset with stable version with no problems.
I use full software list mode, not combined. If I rebuild the software list with rebuilder it will add the romsets highlighted with the error.
It refers to many romsets inside "electron_cass" software list, one romset inside "g7400" software list and one inside "ibm5150" softwarelist.

This is a partial list of the highlighted sets inside "electron_cass":
9cardbd1.7z
9cardbd2.7z
abgensnr.7z
abyss.7z
advcreat.7z
artstudi.7z
aufwiede.7z
axeofkol.7z
battlefi.7z
bridgema.7z
...
...
...

skyhawk.7z
specops.7z
spoker2p.7z
sporttri.7z
starques.7z
survivrs.7z
terrormo.7z
tetris.7z
theboss.7z
thequill.7z
topstail.7z
triple7.7z
turfform.7z
vegasjac.7z
weetabix.7z
wychwood.7z
xanagram.7z

I use merged romsets compressed with 7zip. Thank you for support and for the great work.

I get many "misplaced romset: (move to a rompath)" errors when scanning romset on MAME with latest nightly build (20200904). With stable version I don't get errors.

13
I found it, syspath is setted well but I found that rompath for that softwarelist was disabled and I really don't know why: I enabled it and scan works flawlessy now.
Thank you.

14
I use the complex setup with sysdefpaths, lists are imported straight from MAME binary.
Thanks.

15
I rebuilded the set from scratch with clrmame rebuild (merged). It's very strange.
When I spoke about nightly build I'm referring to clrmame pro nightly, dated 02/02/2019, MAME build is the official .208 x64 version.

Hello Roman, I'm on the latest nigthly build and when I try to check my MAME 208 I miss all the orionpro_flop romsets, I enabled system lists and set it correctly for all the sets I have. This is an example:

BASCOM [softwarelist: orionpro_flop - folder: bascom - size: 800kb]
missing set: BASCOM
missing rom: soft__bascom_pushkov__bascom.odi [size: 819200] [CRC32: 94a6de7e] [SHA1: 34cbb8ce720d3aff35ff021d74514b25263869e0]

This is for all sets of that system list, but I got all merged sets in 7z format and I have bascom.7z with the correct rom inside.
What's wrong with my settings?

Thank you for support.
It could be a good feature to add a multiple enable software list in system menu through selection with mouse, or SHIFT or CTRL button. It could be useful when rebuilding software lists step by step.

All matches and when do scanning I got no missing rom messages, like all went well but the rom wasn't there.
