Title: Different dat with the same name
Post by: il_benny on 08 April 2022, 18:53
Hi Roman
Some recent no-intro dat have the same name of redump's dat one, like Acorn Archimedes or Apple Machintosh even if they are in different paths/folder
When adding one clrmame report that is either an update or an existing one to be replaced
What's the best method to manage this? Maybe manually editing the dat file or there is a better way?

Any suggestions?

D.

The detection mechanism works by looking at the name element inside the dat file. So filenames don't play a role. If you're not the author of the dats, you will run into the same problem with the next update....so I guess you either convince the authors of changing the name somehow or be aware when loading the dat that you select a different option and not click on update ;-)

It's not really planned to add work in cmpro to change this behaviour at this point in time.
