Title: DAT upgrade question
Post by: Mucci on 04 April 2020, 13:32
In this special situation and we are all waiting for the release of MAME 0.220 I have two "update" folders for MAME (freeze and update), never had this situation before :-)

When I'm updating the MAME SL updates it suggest to update it from Folder1 instead from Folder2 when there is a dat stored that have the same "name" .
Is that correct that the suggestion is based on the "name" of the dat and it goes "top-down" in the folder structure for searching?

Im uploading the dat to the correct subfolder. Is it possible to check the folder first where the dat is for an update? ....maybe it isn't possible, wouldn't be a big problem for me ;-)

I know for other situation it isn't possible to add a dat to the same folder when it has the same name ......but in my case it has a different file-name so I can upload it direct to this subfolder ;-)

welcome to the world of special cases ;-)
I guess it picks the first it finds (by looking at the name stored in the header) and proposes that.
You can still click "no" in that update prompt and cmpro will ask you then what do to with it...if you then select update you get a full list and you can pick the right, second one.
I highly doubt that I will change that behaviour ;)
