While cleaning up my No-Intro ROMs, clrmamepro identified cases like these, but didn't rename them:
SeaQuest DSV (USA).zip --> seaQuest DSV (USA).zip
Cutthroat Island (USA).zip --> CutThroat Island (USA).zip
Manually renaming them doesn't work either since Windows is case-insensitive. A solution is to add another character to the name while fixing them, and then editing it out.

character case renaming should work flawlessly...do you have an example dat and archive file handy? or are you talking about not compressed files?... either way it should work fine, so I need some examples from your side.

Try this:

Import the .dat file to a new profile, add the rom path and run a scan.
It asks if I want to rename it, and the Statistics window says that it was fixed, but the file stays the same on the system. If I run a new scan, it tries to fix it again.

Thanks for the files...I will check them when I'm back from work....

Sorry to say...but this works fine here (Windows 10, 64bit)....it renames it flawlessly.... (all check+fix options enabled).
Besides of this, manual renaming works fine, too with Windows....there is no problem changing an upper to lowercase filename (or vice versa). The fix-case routine is in cmpro for decades....and nothing was reported yet...so....I really wonder what is different on your system...Any details?

I've just found out what the problem is. It works on NTFS partitions, but not on exFAT ones, and my collection is on an external HD formatted as exFAT.

ah...thanks...interesting......I can confirm this....(lemme see if I can fix this quickly)

ok....easy fix.....will look at something else, too...but expect an updated nightly build later on
-
ok...grab the latest nightly build please....

I confirm that it now works. Thanks for looking into it!
