Title: [SOLVED] strange 7z warnings
Post by: abelenki on 22 March 2013, 11:22
hello,

i've got the following warnings when scanning PS1 Japanese set with latest cmp 4.010 x64 and latest beta x64 (http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/binaries/cmp20130312.rar (http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/binaries/cmp20130312.rar)):

(see attached screenshot)

the funny thing, these warnings appears after scanning letters F and G, where "problematic" sets are situated, not during scanning F and G.

also, i tested those archives with latest 7-Zip - they are perfectly fine.

can someone help with this problem?

my cmp settings and used DAT file are attached to the post.

well, as long as I don't have one of the specific 7z files I can't really help....
the SZ_ERROR_FAIL message comes when a 7z SDK returns an error code 11....great, ain't it....could be everything....maybe a locked file which cannot be opened/closed...no idea...as I said...without having the 7z itself, I can't really help...

....did I mention that 7z is and stays a pita....still wonder why people like it....

Those BIN files have matching hash info, along with "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kouen Mae Hashutsujo - High-Tech Buil Shinkou Soshi Sakusen! no Maki (Japan) (Track 6).bin", which is the longest entry in your datfile.

If the temp process creates a dir named after the set, the total length of the path for extracted file = 267 characters. The native path limit is 260, so I can see how you might run into trouble handling that.  How it becomes a cascading error is beyond me though.

The only other entry that might be too long is "Simple 1500 Jitsuyou Series Vol. 13 - Shinri Game - Soreike x Kokology - Kokoro no Uso no Makafushigi (Japan)" at 263, then it's "Kidou Senshi Gundam - Gihren no Yabou - Zeon no Keifu (Japan) (Disc 1) (Earth Federation Disc) (v1.x)" at 257 and below.

1. More info about the RAM you have.
2. Are these files being seeding/shared in some file sharing program
3. Sure, try a shorter path E:\PS1 (But while u r at it shorten CMP's path too E:\_CMP)
4. Try Using CMD 7z from 9.28a
5. Try converting (just the files CMP complains about to zip) then scan again.. Same ?

Not definite solution, just things to try and report on.

Zandro, i followed your suggestion to shorten cmp temp path. i edited cmpro.ini with:

CMPro_TempFolder = D:\Temp\

now i performed the scan again, and voila, no more warnings.

thank you very much!! you've been very helpful.

oxyandy, my PC config is on my signature. and i use Windows 8 x64. anyway, the problem is solved now. ;)

Time to switch to extended path length with a 32k :)
But hell...I guess I need to touch too many places to support it...but never say never....however too busy with real life at the moment
