Hi,
there is one user who got issues running the latest official version on Windows XP. I myself tested it on a XP SP3 virtual machine and it runs fine.
Is there still another XP user out there who can say it cmpro 4.024 works?

If you experience a starting problem, you might want to test the following:
Replace your cmpro.exe with the one you can download here:
http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/binaries/cmp20150928.rar (http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/binaries/cmp20150928.rar)

I'm using WINE on Mac OS X 10.10 and the current version (4.0.24) and the one you attached in your post both crash on start-up.
I hadn't the opportunity to test version 4.0.23, but 4.0.22 worked without a hitch.
I'm not sure it'll be helpful but I've attached the backtrace log from WINE anyway.

Well, for WINE, be sure you're running an up-to-date version....
( Wine 1.6.2 x32 set the emulation to Windows XP, 7, 8 )
-
I'm using version 1.7.37.
I'm not aware of any more recent version of WINE for Mac OS X.
-
don't know if you saw my comment about the emulation switch to XP/7/8 since I've edit the original post...
..just for a test...if you still got 4.0.23 around, can you copy the 7z and unrar dll from there over the ones from 4.024 and try again please

I've just installed ubuntu 15.04, 32bit and downloaded latest WINE and cmpro 4.024 32 bit (zip)...and it runs in WINE....
and used an official freely available MS XP (SP3) Image for browser testing purposes....and also there...no issues...
-
Setting the WINE prefix to Windows 7 doesn't help.
I don't have a copy of 4.0.23 (never downloaded it).
-
then please try to exchange the 7z and rar dlls from 4.022 or before
-
I just tried ClrMAME with CrossOver (commercial version of WINE) and it works (I guess because it is newer).
-
Thanks for testing !
I still can't reproduce the XP problem...neither on a virtual machine nor on an old laptop running XP...
so if there's someone out there running xp natively, would be interesting to know if it crashes on startup or not...
edit:
and I just found another old laptop running XP (SP3)....and it works too there...so I assume that one user got XP issues not really related to cmpro....

I just found an old XP laptop.
Installed ClrMAMEpro 4.024 (32bit) and it works perfectly, no problem of any kind in working with it.

thanks for testing....I guess we can close this discussion ;-)
